Raw materials such as cotton are very often cultivated and manufactured in Asia and Africa – with a heavy impact on environment and people. The same destinations are flooded with second hand clothes from western countries.


“Made in Europe” is not a guarantee for sustainable and fair production. Even in Europe, in countries such as Italy and Rumania low wages and critical working conditions exist. On the other hand, the fashion production industry is an opportunity to give people low educated jobs, and to force industrialisation and development.

Consumers can force the development in claiming their rights for information and transparency. But is this enough to change the fashion industry?
