Ivana Franović is a peace activist from Belgrade. She has been working in the fields of peacebuilding, dealing with the past and reconciliation in the region of former Yugoslavia, especially in the triangle Bosnia-Croatia-Serbia. Since 1999 she is working at the Centre for Nonviolent Action (nenasilje.org), where her responsibilities include developing different training programmes and holding them, publishing, organisational management and project coordination. Ivana Franović holds an MA in Peace and Reconciliation Studies from Coventry University UK. Her work is about deconstruction of enemy images, storytelling, challenging dominant and competing narratives about the wars in the region, raising awareness and sensitivity for the “opposed” narratives and making space for multiple perspectives.

Nenad Veličković

Nenad Veličković


Nenad Veličković, an associate professor at the Department of Slavistics at the Faculty of Philosophy (University of Sarajevo) was born on May 2nd, 1962 in Sarajevo, where he completed his elementary and secondary education. He received his MA in the area of Serbian Literature, defending thesis Dusan Kovacevic’s Political Theatre in May 2006. He completed his PhD on Ideological Instrumentalisation of Literature in Bosniak, Croat and Serb Textbooks, in May 2010. In addition to being interested in the use of literature in education, his other academic interest is critique of postmodern nationalistic discourse. He has edited more than 20 books of local and foreign authors for the publishing house Omnibus, which he co-owned from 1999 to 2007. He started and edited several magazines and publications. His written work includes numerous stories, plays, essays, as well as several novels which have been published, translated and reprinted. He has participated in numerous literary events locally, and internationally. He has been a guest lecturer at different university Centers.
